Under the Surface
Each summer, young explorers from Northwest Passage set out for adventures that few have experienced. They bravely submerge themselves in rivers and lakes to learn about and document underwater ecosystems. The stunning photographs that result from these expeditions have been featured in books, films, and witnessed by over one million people at exhibits around the United States. These photographs represent the kids' exploration and discovery of the underwater world, and of themselves.

"Stand out from the Crowd" by Tucker, 16 | Under the Surface 2014
This picture was taken in a really fast current. The fish were zipping all around me, and I couldn't get a picture in focus. I kept trying and trying, and finally got a clear picture of this one single fish while all the fish around him are blurry. He reminds me of me because I always feel like I'm different than everyone else.
About Tucker: "Hi, my name is Tucker and I'm 16. I've been through some really challenging things in my life, and I've made a lot of really bad decisions. I hope I can turn things around before it's too late. I love being underwater taking pictures. It's the most relaxing thing for me and always puts me in a good mood."
