"Two Blue Fish" by Tatyanna, 15 | Under the Surface 2019
This week we went to Minerva Dam. I had never seen so many fish in my life. I was so happy, I wanted to cry. At first, the fish did not want to come near me. I stood still, and they all came in. Soon there were probably twenty fish surrounding me. Suddenly, I noticed that something was wrong. I saw a little fish stuck under a tree branch at the bottom. When I looked at it, I saw myself. I was stuck in my bad habits, doing all of the stuff I shouldn’t, but then I came to Northwest Passage. Now I have a lot of skills that are helping me be free. I wanted to do the same for the little fish, so I moved the branch and told it I loved it before watching it swim away.
About Tatyanna: Hi, my name is Tatyanna. When I learned that I was going to do underwater photography with real live fish, I was so scared because I’d never done anything like that before. I live in the Twin Cities and the only fish I see are the ones I am about to eat. I never saw live fish before the first day of underwater photography. But I am telling you that something happened to me when I was in the water. It changed me for the better and it did change my life. I loved every second in the water and I will not change it for the world. That is how Under the Surface changed my life.
