Under the Surface

Each summer, young explorers from Northwest Passage set out for adventures that few have experienced. They bravely submerge themselves in rivers and lakes to learn about and document underwater ecosystems. The stunning photographs that result from these expeditions have been featured in books, films, and witnessed by over one million people at exhibits around the United States. These photographs represent the kids' exploration and discovery of the underwater world, and of themselves.

About Joey: "Hi, my name is Joey. I am from Spooner, WI. I am at Northwest Passage because I struggled with drug and alcohol use. I also was a threat to myself in the community. I made a lot of bad choices and I am working every day to fix them. I enjoy choir and band at my school and I have one dog and two cats. When I’m not hanging out with friends, I enjoy power sports. School sports I enjoy are Track, Football, and wrestling. I enjoy photography because it can be very peaceful and you get to see nature in a different prospective. Photography has added a whole new view and hobby to my life. I am excited to explore and take more photos."
