Under the Surface
Each summer, young explorers from Northwest Passage set out for adventures that few have experienced. They bravely submerge themselves in rivers and lakes to learn about and document underwater ecosystems. The stunning photographs that result from these expeditions have been featured in books, films, and witnessed by over one million people at exhibits around the United States. These photographs represent the kids' exploration and discovery of the underwater world, and of themselves.

"My Spot" by Jourdyn, 15 | Under the Surface 2016
Sitting there laying on the rock
Listening to these beautiful waves.
So relaxed and calm
Water so clean and blue and very cold.
About Jourdyn: "My name is Jourdyn. I am currently at Northwest Passage. Northwest Passage’s InaNewLight underwater and nature photography programs have really been helpful to my treatment. I don’t think about other distractions going on in life. I just focus on being mindful and looking for cool creatures. I enjoy underwater so much I hope to continue it when I leave."
