
Under the Surface
Each summer, young explorers from Northwest Passage set out for adventures that few have experienced. They bravely submerge themselves in rivers and lakes to learn about and document underwater ecosystems. The stunning photographs that result from these expeditions have been featured in books, films, and witnessed by over one million people at exhibits around the United States. These photographs represent the kids' exploration and discovery of the underwater world, and of themselves.

"Bye, You're Scary" by Kaleb, 12 | Under the Surface 2019
I took this picture accidentally when I was trying to capture a crayfish fighting another crayfish. It caught my eye because it looked like it was running away from the other one.
About Kaleb: My name is Kaleb. I like cats, Legos, video games, and soft blankets. The reason why I like underwater photography is because I love swimming—it lets all of my fears and stress just melt away, and it’s something I’d like to continue even after I leave Passage.
