Under the Surface
"Redhorse" by Clara, 16 | Under the Surface 2022
This is the redhorse fish, it lives in the Namekagon River and many other places. At first I thought it was a salmon, but it turns out it’s a very common fish that I wasn’t educated about. You can find lots of interesting species under the surface. In the near future, I hope to learn more things about the animals I come in contact with.
About Clara: "My name is Clara, I am 16 years old. I have spent a lot of time at Northwest Passage trying to find what works for me. I enjoyed going out and taking pictures, but I had some trouble adapting to the water. It took me out of my comfort zone and I got frustrated over and over again. Tolerating the heat, attempting to take a clear photo, capturing wildlife without company from other peers. But I made it through, even though my emotions got the best of me at times. I just do my best to push through, because it will feel hard sometimes, but in the long run you might just have fun! I’m really excited for all the future residents who get this opportunity, such as I did."
