"Whitebird" by Lorena, 16 | Prairieview Nature Photography
When I look at Whitebird I always think about my sister, Crystal, and how we loved each other from the beginning of her life. Every time I glance at it, I can't help but smile about the first time my original baby sister laughed, and how I was the cause of it. It warms my heart to know that I have such supportive people in my life.
About Lorena: "My name is Lorena and I am 16 years old. I hail from a local reservation and currently live here at Passage. I suffer from a variety of disorders and issues from depression to a thyroid condition. NWP's InaNewLight program changed my mind about photography. When I was younger, I thought that it was the easiest thing ever and that anybody could make it looked professional. I was wrong. Being here at Passage in this program has changed the way I look at things. When I usually look around, all I look for is pretty, shiny things that everyone would look for, but now that I know a little more about perspective, I can find beauty in the ugliest places. Throughout my time here, my favorite memories consist of photography trips and fun times with these girls here. When I'm eighty I'm going to tell my grandkids about how much fun I had in the times that I had struggled and how they can change the negative into something more beautiful."
