Lake Superior
"Lighthouse Path" by Cooper, 16 | Gitche Gumee
"It was fairly cold out, and we got out of the van onto a shore of lake Superior. We saw a lighthouse in the distance. We looked at it, and tried to get a photo with the light bursting on it. we got lucky a few times, then we headed out on the ice. It was an amazing sight. Ice plates shimmering in shades of violets and blues. We built a fire surrounded by ice. It glistened and shinned, as flames rose in the air."
About Cooper: "I am from Wisconsin but grew up in many different states before that. My past was difficult and rough. I fought with my family and I have not seen my mom since I was ten. What I see myself like in the future is owning my own comic book business. I started writing my own comics in kindergarten and everyone told me I was great at it. I’m still improving, but what I say is practice makes progress. In a New Light means a lot to me. Photography is a type of art of capturing a story in a photograph. I also like photography because everyone likes the pictures I take. I see photography as a talent of mine."
