I remember your harsh words. You’d say “you will never grow up to be anything but a disappointment.” Did you ever think about how I could possibly go beyond your expectations? Did you ever think that you would become the disappointment and that I would become the one who grew from poisoned dirt? I grew to give life, not to take it. I grew to show you that you were wrong. I have grown to love myself. I have grown to forgive you.
