Artists of Prairieview
"Golden Petals" by Annaka, 17 | May 2021
Trapped in cold weather.
Still gold, like a bird’s feather.
Sharp leaves stay silent,
Big like the green giant.
About the artist: My name is Annaka. I’m 17, and from Madison WI. The reason I’m at Passage is because I used to drink a lot, it was my escape and I felt it was the only thing that could bring me joy. I am involved in many other things now that I have entered the Northwest Passage program. I’m big into art and love tattooing. I have learned lots of mindfulness and DBT skills. I’ve discovered that taking photos is a very peaceful and pleasant activity. Being in the wilderness and savoring the memory has been a big part in my treatment here. Northwest Passage has taught me many things and I’m grateful that there’s such a place.
